Hey guys! So recently I've come across this really exciting research project that discusses the best foundations on the market. A lovely lady, named Lexi from reviews.com, sent me this really interesting article. I thought I would pull some of the interesting facts out of this resource and share it with you, because who doesn't want to own the best foundation on the market, right?
Now unfortunately some of these products are not cruelty free. However, I know that a lot of you reading this are not 100% cruelty free and would still be really interested to see what the best foundation is for you. All of the non-cruelty free products will be marked with a * to ensure there is no confusion! There is also some really helpful tips on finding the right shade, formula, application etc.
I will link the full article at the bottom of this blog post so that you can all check it out.
So how did they find "the best foundation"?
"We spent 40 hours researching 364 formulas, consulting with several industry experts and professional makeup artists, and personally testing 7 foundations to bring you the best" - (reviews.com). So obviously, there has been a great deal of work and testing put into finding the best foundations, making it a pretty reliable source to help you with your purchasing decisions.
What is the verdict?
The Two Best Foundations:
- Mac Studio Face and Body Foundation* (Best Sheer - Medium Coverage)
- Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place* (Best Medium - Full Coverage)
Their other top picks:
- L’Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Makeup* (Best Drugstore Foundation)
- Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation* (Best for Dry Skin)
- Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation (Best for Oily Skin)
- MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation* (Best for Mature Skin)
(* Not Cruelty Free Products)
What are my thoughts?
I am not surprised with the foundations that have made it to the top picks. All these foundations are regarded highly in the makeup community and a lot of people swear by these products. I am sad to say however, that only one of these foundations that made it to the top picks is cruelty free and also happens to be a rather expensive brand. That aside, this guide is very useful for any of those looking to try something new that is highly recommended. There has clearly been a lot of time and effort put into this project and they have thought very carefully about how to best assess the products.
I recommend reading the article if you want to know more about why each of these foundations were chosen and if they would be suitable for you, as they have some really helpful information. There is also so much information to help you find your perfect foundation, including the shade match, formula and type of coverage you want etc. I am really happy that I was sent along this article because it gives a really useful insight into the world of foundations and could be especially useful for those of you who are newer to makeup!
