Post Exam Stress: Skin Detox Routine



Hey guys! So it's exam season for a lot of university students right now and we all know how stressful that can be. After a long day of work (or anything else in daily life which is super stressful) I like to give myself a skin detox. I've really been ignoring my skin routine lately and it is totally noticeable. My skin is super dry right now, to the point makeup won't even sit on my skin properly. The particular products I use in these steps are designed to relive my dry dehydrated skin, so feel free to swap out the products for ones that will better suit your skin type. Enough rambling, let's get into it. 


1. Remove makeup & Cleanse Skin

I don't know about you, but I've just had a super stressful day consisting of a crappy exam and loads of essay writing. My makeup looks dead on my face and my skin is screaming for some therapy. 

Let's start by removing any makeup and dirt from our faces. You could just use a makeup wipe for this, however, I like to remove and cleanse my skin in one step to save time. I've used Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish (shocker if you've read my blog before.) Just apply the cleanser all over the face and eyes and wipe off with a warm muslin cloth. - Extra tip, before you wipe the product off, rest the hot muslin cloth over the skin for a few seconds. This helps to open pores and melt down any of the makeup and dirt on the skin. 

2. Scrub Face

Ok, so the next step helps us concentrate on getting rid of any dead  or dry flaky skin on the face. There are hundreds of products on the market for this, but lately I've been using the Amphora Aromatics Apricot Facial Scrub. This is quite a moisturising formula, so it doesn't leave the skin feeling dry. Just whack a nice amount all over the face, use your hands to scrub the product and wash off in the sink. 

3. Apply Face Mask

This step feels like a nice relaxing treat. I've used Spa Find's Renewed Radiance Energising Mud Mask, as it helps energise and moisturise the skin. What one you apply totally depends on your individual skin type. I leave mine on for around 15-20 minutes and wash off with a muslin cloth. Remember to splash your face with cold water to close your pores.

4. Tone face

After some extreme cleansing, it's time to restore your skin's natural PH levels. I've used Liz Earle's Instant Boost Skin Tonic, as it contains excellent ingredients for dehydrated skin and smells lovely. 

5. Moisturise 

The final step to skin care, apply your moisturiser. I've used First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Cream. This is pretty nice for dry skin and is cruelty free. 

6. Grab your favourite PJ's and chuck a film on

The best part of the whole routine, getting comfy in bed. Today I'm chucking on my grumpy cat PJ's (my inner persona) and watching the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - classic.
